EA Sports. EA’s $55 billion deal wins over investors by taking the company private, but gamers remain cautious. The acquisition could free EA from quarterly pressures, yet $20 billion in debt may force reliance on live-service revenue. Others predict studio closures or IP sales; optimists believe creativity may finally thrive unfettered.
Poor Viewing. NBC’s coverage of the 2025 Ryder Cup averaged just 3.22 million U.S. viewers on Sunday, the lowest for a home Ryder Cup since before 2000, as it clashed with the NFL and MLB. Meanwhile, Sky Sports hit record highs, with five million viewers watching Europe’s first U.S. win since 2012. These numbers could have been down to the U.S. looking dead and buried for the last day.
Big Loses. LIV Golf’s UK division reported a $461.8 million loss for 2024, bringing total international losses to over $1.1 billion since its 2022 debut. Despite strong backing from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and new sponsorships like HSBC and Salesforce, profits remain elusive. PIF’s continued support ensures LIV’s operations will proceed into 2026.
Wrong Decision. Paul Azinger criticized the decision to appoint Keegan Bradley as 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captain, arguing it was a mistake to name an active player in his prime. After Europe’s 15–13 victory, Azinger said Bradley was unfairly placed in a conflicted role and suggested veterans like David Toms or Stewart Cink instead.
Heckler. Comedian and Ryder Cup host Heather McMahan apologized after joining fans in a vulgar chant directed at Rory McIlroy during Saturday’s matches at Bethpage Black. McMahan said she never meant to be disrespectful and was overwhelmed by the crowd’s energy. The PGA of America relieved her of duties, prompting her public reflection and regret.
TIPS
It Starts With Your Grip

Many golfers overlook how a small mistake in grip can lead to big problems in their swing, and your thumb might be the main culprit. In this GOLF.com tip, Top 100 Teacher Mike Dickson breaks down how your lead-hand thumb position directly affects clubface control, consistency, and even shot power.
He explains why most amateurs unknowingly place their thumb in the worst possible spot, causing slices, weak contact, and unpredictable ball flights. With the right thumb position, you can eliminate those issues and start hitting solid, compressed shots like the pros.
From setup adjustments to how tour players like Scottie Scheffler practice their grip, this simple change could completely reshape your swing. Curious to know if your thumb is wrecking your game? Read the full guide to find out how to fix it, and finally take control of your clubface.
