Tommy Fleetwood finally picked up his first PGA Tour win in the Tour Championship this weekend. What a time to pull it off. Taking home a cool $10mil. I might have a little rant here. I still think they need to fix the final event. Scottie Scheffler was around 4500 points ahead of Fleetwood at the beginning of the week. To put it into context, for a PGA Tour win during the season, you pick up 600 points, Scottie was so far ahead. Scottie finished the event in T4 and didn’t win the season-long standings. He has won 5 times this year, and doesn’t take home the final prize? What is the point of the points system?
Anyway, enough of that, let’s get into it ⛳

Short News Snippets From Around The World

Record Breaker. Happy Gilmore 2 has become a streaming phenomenon, breaking records with 2.9 billion viewing minutes in its first week, the highest ever tracked by Nielsen. The Adam Sandler sequel surpassed Glass Onion and featured cameos from golf legends like Jack Nicklaus and John Daly. Returning cast members Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald added nostalgia.
Big Changes. New PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp has signalled major changes with the creation of the Future Competition Committee, tasked with rethinking the Tour’s business model. His vision emphasises simplicity and scarcity, replacing a bloated, complex schedule with fewer, more meaningful events. Sponsors, players, and staff face reduced influence as Rolapp shifts the Tour from member-driven compromises toward a streamlined, elite sports league. His early moves suggest a bold overhaul, consolidating power and reshaping professional golf’s future.
He’s Done It. Tommy Fleetwood finally broke through with his first PGA TOUR victory, winning the TOUR Championship at East Lake and claiming the FedExCup title plus its $10 million prize. He closed with a 2-under 68 to finish at −18, three shots ahead of Patrick Cantlay and Russell Henley. Fleetwood, long known for close calls, held firm while Cantlay stumbled early, and Scottie Scheffler’s late water ball ended his chances.
Locked In. Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, and Rasmus Højgaard secured automatic spots for Europe’s 2025 Ryder Cup team. Højgaard, making his debut, clinched qualification with a strong finish at the Betfred British Masters. Captain Luke Donald will announce his six picks on September 1.
Eagle Has Landed. US President Donald Trump will attend the opening day of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black on September 26, promising to amplify the charged atmosphere. Trump endorsed Keegan Bradley to consider naming himself as a playing captain, the first since Arnold Palmer in 1963. Bradley’s six picks come August 27.
