Oakmont certainly put up a test this past week. JJ Spaun not only ruined my bet, finishing birdie birdie to go -1, but it also led him to claim the 125th U.S Open. What a story. I’m glad we have shorter rough at Clovelly, because damn that looked hard out there this week.
Moving on, the LPGA tour has its PGA Championship this week, so we have some more major golf to look forward to 😁😁.

NEWS
Short News Snippets From Around The World

125th Winner. JJ Spaun won his first Major at the 2025 U.S. Open with a dramatic 65-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole. Overcoming early struggles and a weather delay, Spaun surged late at Oakmont to finish one-under. Robert MacIntyre placed second, with Viktor Hovland third. It was a fairytale win. Pretty Good Father’s Day for JJ, I must say.
Final Round Withdraw. Corey Conners withdrew from the U.S. Open before the final round due to a wrist injury. The issue reportedly began Thursday when a bunker shot struck a hidden TV cable and worsened Saturday after hitting a plugged ball. Conners, 8-over through three rounds, is uncertain for the upcoming Travelers Championship.
Fairytale Story. Philip Barbaree made an emotional cut at the U.S. Open after sinking a crucial par putt on Oakmont’s 9th hole, with his wife Chloe caddying. It marked his first cut in a top-tier pro event. The 26-year-old now secures a career-best payday and exemption from the first stage of PGA TOUR Q-School, boosting his 2026 ambitions.
Big Names. Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, and several other big names missed the cut at the 125th U.S. Open at Oakmont, where the cut line rose to 7-over due to tough conditions. Thomas shot 76-76 to finish 12-over, missing his third straight U.S. Open cut. Other notables out include Åberg, DeChambeau, Johnson, Rose, and Lowry.
TIPS
The Power of Visualisation in Golf

Unlock Your Mental Game
Golf is as much mental as it is physical. If pressure and nerves sabotage your game, visualisation could be the missing piece.
What It Is
Visualisation is mentally rehearsing each shot with vivid detail—seeing, feeling, and committing to a successful outcome before you swing.
Why It Works
Top pros use it to build confidence, reduce fear, and perform under pressure. Your brain responds to mental imagery just like real action.
Train Anywhere
Use visualisation on and off the course—before bed, in your car, or while walking the fairway.
