It is Major week again! This time it is the U.S Open. It will be played at Oakmont this year, and from the looks of things, it is going to be brutal! There are no trees and no water, but I think you’ll make a lot of money if you bet on the winner being over par.

Joaquin Niemann has done it again, the guy is making a lot of loot on the LIV Tour. Two first-time winners this week (both adidas players /// 😁) in Connor Syme and Sam Simpson, on the DP World Tour and Sunshine Tour respectively.

Thanks to Fairway Golf Prints for sponsoring this week. They create incredible minimalistic artwork of your favourite golf courses. They are available in prints, canvas and frames. Short News Snippets From Around The World

Max Is Lost. Max Homa split with caddie Bill Harke after less than two months and carried his own bag during U.S. Open qualifying. Despite shooting five under, he lost in playoffs and missed qualification. After a year of changes, coach, swing, caddie, gear, Homa seeks consistency.

No To The PGA Tour. Reigning U.S. Amateur champion Josele Ballester has signed a multi-year deal with LIV Golf, joining Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs team. The 21-year-old Spaniard declined Korn Ferry Tour membership to make the move. Ballester debuts at LIV Golf Virginia this week and will compete at next week’s U.S. Open at Oakmont.

Murder On The Dance Floor. On June 17, 1994, Arnold Palmer’s emotional U.S. Open farewell at Oakmont coincided with O.J. Simpson’s infamous police chase. As Palmer bid golf fans goodbye, news broke of Simpson being charged with double murder. The surreal overlap captivated the nation, intertwining two iconic figures on one unforgettable day in sports history.

Perfect Timing. Jake Sherwin aced the par-3 fourth hole while playing with Charlie Woods at the Florida Amateur, under the watchful eye of Tiger Woods. The surreal moment, capped by a photo with Tiger, was a dream come true. Sherwin also carded an albatross earlier, making it a truly unforgettable tournament.

New President. LIV Golf appointed Chris Heck as its first president of business operations. Heck, a former executive with Aston Villa and the Philadelphia 76ers, will focus on growing revenue, attendance, sponsorships, merchandising, and global perception. His arrival aligns with LIV’s push to strengthen its franchise model and expand global appeal.

TIPS
The #1 Chipping Mistake Most Amateurs Make

And How to Fix It

Chipping can make or break your round, but most amateurs unknowingly sabotage their shots with one key mistake: using too much hands and wrists. This leads to inconsistent contact and frustrating results.

Why It Happens
Nerves and rushed swings often cause a flicking motion, resulting in thin or fat chips.

How to Fix It

  • Narrow stance, ball back of centre

  • Hands ahead of the ball

  • Rotate your chest through the shot

  • Keep your grip light and relaxed

Building Confidence

  • Short, consistent practice sessions

  • Visualise success before each shot

  • Manage pressure with breathing and self-talk

Using Bounce Effectively
Learn to work with your wedge’s bounce to avoid digging or blading.

Pro Tip
Even one lesson with a coach can transform your chipping.
