NEWS
Short News Snippets From Around The World

DJ x TM. Dustin Johnson and TaylorMade have parted ways after 18 years, with his contract expiring at the end of 2024. The reason for the split remains unclear, but it highlights the changing endorsement landscape for LIV Golf players. Despite the separation, Johnson was still seen using a TaylorMade driver at LIV Golf Adelaide.

LIV to The Open. The R&A has created a new exemption for the Open Championship, allowing the top LIV Golf player not already qualified to earn a spot after LIV’s Dallas event in June. This follows a similar move by the USGA for the U.S. Open, signalling increased recognition of LIV Golf players in major championships.

Rory’s View. Rory McIlroy’s latest comments about LIV Golf have sparked backlash, with former PGA Tour winner-turned-pundit Johnson Wagner criticizing him for saying players should “just get over it” regarding LIV defectors returning. McIlroy also claimed all PGA Tour players have benefited from LIV’s formation, angering some who stayed loyal to the tour.

Rule Change. The TGL has updated its hammer rule, with each team now starting with three hammers per match. A team can use only one per hole, and a hole’s maximum value is now three points if both teams throw a hammer. The rule tweak aims to enhance strategy and competitiveness in matches.
