Short News Snippets From Around The World
TV Deal. LIV Golf and Fox Sports are in talks for a 2025 TV contract, potentially increasing LIV's exposure and credibility. Specifics, including broadcast rights and fees, remain unclear. Previously aired on The CW with low viewership, LIV’s 2025 championship is scheduled for August 15-17 at Chatham Hills, Indiana.
PGA Changes. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan announced plans to hire a CEO for PGA Tour Enterprises, its for-profit arm. Monahan will oversee the search, involving figures like Tiger Woods and Adam Scott. This move supports evolving golf formats and navigating negotiations with LIV Golf and the Saudi Public Investment Fund.
Rookie of the Year. Nick Dunlap, 20, received the Arnold Palmer Award for Rookie of the Year after a historic season, becoming the first player to win as both an amateur and professional in the same year. Starting 2024 as a college golfer, he achieved two TOUR victories and finished among the FedExCup top 50.
Langer Edges Woods. Bernhard and Jason Langer triumphed in a thrilling playoff against Tiger and Charlie Woods at the PNC Championship. Langer’s eagle on the first extra hole secured their record sixth PNC win. Despite a hole-in-one by Charlie Woods, Team Langer’s consistency prevailed in this family-centric, star-studded event.
