Wow, it is great to see some of the world’s best golfers on home soil. The Nedbank Challenge this past week was great to watch, with our new young gun Aldrich Potgieter coming up just short on the final hole. Watch this space, he is going to be our next superstar. Scotty Scheffler defended his World Hero title making it 9 wins this year! He even decided to change his putting grip, as if it wasn’t good enough.
The LPGA Tour had an interesting week with the Commissioner standing down and a new gender policy, could they be linked? Not sure. However, I am in agreement with it.

NEWS
Short News Snippets From Around The World
New Commish. Mollie Marcoux Samaan will step down as LPGA commissioner on January 9, 2024, after driving unprecedented growth. During her tenure, prize funds increased by 90%, and top-player earnings doubled. Praised for advancing women's sports equity, she leaves the LPGA well-positioned for future success despite challenges like sponsorship losses and logistical issues.
First Trade. Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces acquired Thomas Pieters from Bubba Watson’s RangeGoats in LIV Golf’s first offseason trade. Pieters, a former Ryder Cup standout, strengthens a 4Aces team aiming for a comeback after a 10th-place 2024 season finish. Pat Perez is expected to depart, leaving Pieters to bolster the squad’s competitive edge.
TaylorMade Stepping Up. TaylorMade has acquired bespoke putter-maker Logan Olson, a rising talent in milled putters. Olson, known for custom designs and limited-release runs, will continue as principal designer while leveraging TaylorMade’s resources. His craftsmanship will influence new TaylorMade putter lines, including a "Tour matrix" for professionals, starting with Craft Batch No. 3 on December 5.
About Time. The LPGA and USGA have introduced updated gender policies for women's tournaments starting in 2025. Players must be born female or transition before male puberty to compete. These changes aim to balance inclusivity with competitive fairness, reflecting scientific research on performance differences while applying only to elite competitions, not recreational events. This should be standardized in all sports.
Thank Goodness. The 2025 WM Phoenix Open will feature significant upgrades after weather and crowd issues in 2024. Changes include a new entrance near the 18th tee, wider walkways, expanded concessions, and redesigned fan zones to ease congestion. All-digital ticketing replaces "Good Any Day" passes. The tournament runs February 6-9, 2025.
