There were not many events on the global tours this last week, making it quite a quiet one. There was some interesting news coming from the DP World Tour and PIF on a potential merger of some kind.

The DP World Tour lands on South African soil this week, which is a very exciting time for us Saffas. Max Homa defends his title at Sun City. Looking at the entry list, there will be a good battle out there this week.

Historic Nelly. Nelly Korda's 2024 LPGA season was record-breaking, achieving the highest single-season percentage of rounds in the 60s (63.2%) by any player with 50+ rounds. This remarkable feat cements her as one of the tour's most consistent and dominant performers in history.

DP + PIF? The DP World Tour and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund are reportedly discussing a partnership to grant LIV Golf players access, along with financial and scheduling benefits. Despite past rejections, renewed negotiations follow prolonged PGA Tour-PIF talks. Both entities aim to reshape global golf while facing challenges in balancing existing alliances.

Proper Cash. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan earned $23 million in 2023, a significant rise from $18.4 million in 2022, with bonuses and deferred compensation boosting his pay. Despite criticism over his handling of the Saudi PIF deal, Monahan's earnings place him among the highest-paid sports commissioners globally.

Crypto Showdown. The Crypto.com Showdown, a PGA Tour-LIV Golf event, pits Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy against Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau at Shadow Creek, Las Vegas, on Dec. 17. With a $10M cryptocurrency prize, this Ryder Cup-style match-play promises high stakes and thrilling competition.
