Short News Snippets From Around The World
PGA Tour Changes. The PGA Tour's proposed 2026 changes will reduce tournament fields to 120-144 players, cut membership cards by 20-25%, and eliminate Monday qualifying for smaller events. Points allocation will be adjusted, and pace-of-play rules will change to improve tournament efficiency. Final approval is expected on November 18. Read the full article here.
The Match. "The Match" returns for its 10th edition on Nov. 21-22 with an expanded celebrity lineup, airing on TNT and Max. Celebrities like Bill Murray, Mark Wahlberg, and Charles Barkley will compete in a two-night event, featuring two-man scrambles in quarterfinals, followed by individual semifinals and finals for a $1 million prize. Ernie Johnson, Trevor Immelman, Kathryn Tappen, and Bubba Watson will host and report live from the course at Breakers West Country Club in West Palm Beach.
D-Day? The PGA Tour and LIV Golf have reportedly reached a peace agreement in which Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) will invest $2 billion in the PGA Tour, securing an 11% share and two board seats, including chairman. LIV Golf events will continue under the PGA Tour’s umbrella, and prize pools for PGA and DP World Tour players will increase. The proposed merger, which has faced negotiation challenges, will be voted on by PGA players, with figures like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy pushing for its completion.
For Charity. Scottie Scheffler’s 2012 GMC Yukon, with over 200,000 miles, was auctioned for charity, supporting Triumph Over Kid Cancer. Legendary sportscaster Jim Nantz raised the bid to $50,000 to honour its sentimental value. The car has historical significance for the Scheffler family, dating back to when they purchased it at the 2012 Masters. The funds raised will contribute to childhood cancer research, adding a meaningful impact to the vehicle’s legacy.
Spotted. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and Saudi PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan were spotted together in Saudi Arabia, following a prior pro-am meeting at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. While public appearances suggest progress toward unifying the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, no final agreement has been confirmed. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is reportedly focusing on managing expenditures, adding uncertainty to these discussions.

Six Simple DOs and DON'Ts for Choosing the Right Golf Ball
✅DO Consider Firmer Golf Balls
Don’t avoid firmer balls due to swing speed; they often improve stopping power on the green, which is valuable for golfers at any level.
⛔DON'T Buy Refinished Balls
Refinished balls may be cheap, but they’re unpredictable. They often have altered cores and inconsistent performance. Used balls in top condition or direct-to-consumer (DTC) options are better for value and quality.
✅DO Explore DTC Brands
Brands like Vice and Maxfli provide well-tested, budget-friendly options without sacrificing quality.
⛔DON'T Play Scuffed Balls
Minor scuffs can cost significant yardage and accuracy. For optimal performance, replace any ball with visible damage.
✅DO Focus on Consistent Quality
High-quality balls result in better shots. Consistency in ball production can make a difference on the course, even for less experienced golfers.
⛔DON'T Use Matte Balls
Matte finishes might look great but often lead to inconsistent play, especially in wet conditions. Only consider them if visibility in flight is a major issue for you.
