NEWS
Short News Snippets From Around The World

TGL Series. Rory McIlroy is set to star in a new five-part documentary focused on his team, Boston Common Golf, as they prepare for the upcoming Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL). The series, airing in mid-December, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the journey to launch TGL and features Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott, and Hideki Matsuyama.

Years Behind. Last week, the PGA Tour tested in-round player interviews during the Sanderson Farms tournament. Golf Channel reporters conducted brief, voluntary interviews after players hit tee shots on designated par-3 holes. The goal was to modernize broadcasts and increase fan engagement, with further trials planned for upcoming tournaments.

Viktor Out. Viktor Hovland will miss the remainder of the 2024 season due to an undisclosed injury, according to reports. His performance had already been struggling throughout the year, missing several major cuts. Hovland hopes to recover in time for the 2025 PGA Tour season and the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

Still Hush Hush. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan were paired together at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, signalling improving relations. This comes as negotiations continue for a multibillion-dollar investment from PIF into the PGA Tour's new for-profit entity. Rory McIlroy called it a positive step.

Tiger’s New Course. Tiger Woods' TGR Design is building a new golf course at Bluejack Ranch near Fort Worth, Texas. The course will include a full-size layout and a lighted 10-hole par-3 course. This follows Woods' success with Bluejack National near Houston. Bluejack Ranch is expected to open in 2026.

Suing Tony. Tony Finau is facing a lawsuit from Utah businessman Molonai Hola, who claims to have invested $600,000 in Finau’s career in 2006 in exchange for 20% of future earnings. Hola’s breach of contract claim was dismissed due to the statute of limitations, but his unjust enrichment claim may proceed, highlighting the importance of written contracts.
