Interesting week we have had, The Presidents Cup threw up some drama. At the end of the day USA walked away with it, but the Internationals put up a massive fight on day 2. The Internationals did go a bit over the top with Tom Kim being the main adversary. His celebrations were way over the top, it actually became cringy at the end. Having said that there is something in team events in golf that brings out the best of us. To me, it didn’t feel like a ‘home’ event for the Internationals as it was still played in North America.
There is nothing like a National Open, and the Spanish Open was no different with local Angel Hidalgo beating fellow Spaniard Jon Rahm in a playoff.
I thought I’d just mention this. The LET Tour event is sponsored by PIF this week. The LET Tour seems to have no problem with the PIF, to me the PGA Tour is trying to hold onto something to benefit themselves and not the game of golf, and ultimately the players and fans.

NEWS
Short News Snippets From Around The World
Patricks Hat Drama. Last week, during the Presidents Cup in Montreal, Patrick Cantlay was seen wearing his hat, a notable change from the 2023 Ryder Cup when he chose not to wear it, causing some controversy. This time, however, Cantlay’s decision to wear his hat at the team event avoided any repeat of the previous year’s drama.
Scotty. In a rare statement, Adam Scott suggested that golf could reunify by 2026 or 2027. He believes the PGA Tour remains strong despite competition from LIV Golf and sees the sport thriving in five years, regardless of a potential deal with the PIF. Scott emphasized that change is difficult but necessary.
Cry Baby Kim. Tom Kim faced criticism for his unsportsmanlike conduct at the 2024 Presidents Cup, especially after accusing the U.S. team of bad behaviour. Although Kim’s passion energized fans, his Saturday night outburst raised questions about his maturity. Despite some great performances, Kim left with a mixed legacy at the event.
Sun Day Red Tape? Tigeraire, a company known for athlete cooling products, has accused Tiger Woods’ clothing brand, Sun Day Red, of intellectual property violation. They claim the brand unlawfully hijacked their logo, alleging a breach of trademark rights. This legal dispute highlights ongoing tensions over brand identity in the sports apparel industry. See the image below. Either way, it is an awful logo.
