Quite a boring week golf wise, as most tours have taken a small break to prepare for the Solheim Cup and Presidents Cup. The ladies kick off this week. and the men the following. It is always such a great watch. The team element adds an awesome dynamic to the game.
Matt Wallace did pick up his first win in 6 years at the Omega European Masters! Crazy how hard it is to win on tour. The PGA Tour kicks off its wrap around 2024/2025 season.

Spieth’s Injury. Jordan Spieth shared a positive update after his left wrist surgery, stating the procedure went smoothly. The surgery aimed to address long-standing wrist issues. Spieth's recovery is expected to last 3-4 months, aligning with the start of the 2025 PGA Tour season. He remains focused on rest and rehabilitation.
Åberg Injury. Swedish golfer Ludvig Åberg, ranked No. 5 in the world, will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He is expected to resume hitting golf balls in 3-4 weeks and play a limited schedule in the fall. Åberg had eight top-10 finishes in 2024.
PGA vs LIV. Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will face Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in a televised golf match in Las Vegas this December. The event will air on TNT and feature top PGA Tour and LIV Golf players. While the players will receive appearance fees, they won't compete for prize money. This could be one hell of a battle.
Daddy Duties. Justin Thomas announced on Instagram that he and his wife Jillian are expecting their first child in November 2024. Although disappointed about missing the U.S. Presidents Cup team, Thomas shared his excitement for fatherhood and his off-season plans. He also expressed pride in his 2024 improvements and looks forward to the 2025 season.
Splitsville. Callaway is spinning off Topgolf into a separate, independent company, aiming to enhance shareholder value by splitting their operations. While Callaway Golf focuses on equipment and accessories, Topgolf has a distinct entertainment and venue-driven model. The move is expected to be finalised by mid-2025. Callaway will retain some ownership and Topgolf will operate without debt. The separation follows a strategic review after Topgolf Callaway Brands’ stock performance lagged behind expectations despite investments in growth.
Cheers Dan. Dan Rapaport announced his departure from Barstool’s Foreplay Podcast after two years, following the expiration of his contract. He expressed gratitude for his time with the show, sharing golf adventures with the team. Rapaport plans to take a break before deciding on his next move but remains dedicated to covering golf in innovative ways.
