There is something special about the Olympics, and I love that they have incorporated golf back into it. It was so funny seeing Tommy’s emotional rollercoaster on the 18th hole. In any given tournament he would have been upset with this 2nd place finish, but because it is the Olympics he walked away with a silver medal, that smile of his showed up seconds after he realised it wasn’t all gone and lost.

Next up is the women’s event that starts on the 7th (Wednesday), Nelly Korda tries to defend her title. It should also be a great one to watch.

Short News Snippets From Around The World

Creator Classic. The PGA Tour is partnering with golf content creators for "The Creator Classic" at East Lake Golf Club on August 28, 2024. Sixteen popular creators, including Tyler Toney and Good Good creators, will compete in a nine-hole event streamed live on YouTube, Peacock, and ESPN+. The event showcases East Lake's restored back nine and features ShotLink and Trackman technology. Bryson DeChambeau has not been included, what are your thoughts on that?

Bounce Back. Charlie Woods won the South Florida Junior PGA Cup with a second round of 68, marking a significant milestone after a disappointing U.S. Junior Amateur performance. Held at BallenIsles Country Club, Charlie’s clutch birdies on the 10th and 12th holes secured his victory. This win boosts his confidence and career trajectory.

Military Service. South Korean golfers Tom Kim and Byeong Hun An face unique pressure at the Olympic men's golf tournament, as winning a medal would exempt them from mandatory military service. Both missed unfortunately the podium. Military service has previously impacted golfers' careers, making their potential wins life-changing.

Big Mama. JoAnne Carner, at 85, shot a 9-over 80 in the second round of the U.S. Senior Women’s Open, marking her eighth time shooting her age or better in the tournament. Despite consecutive birdies and a strong history, Carner will miss the weekend cut. She would give some of my mates a run for their money.

Claret Jug Drama. Gary Player is taking legal action regarding the unauthorized sale of his 1974 Claret Jug replica, sold for $481,068. Golden Age Auctions contends that Player's company sold the replica to address financial issues in 2020. This dispute follows previous legal issues involving Player’s memorabilia. Player disputes the auction's legitimacy. Gary said - "I have been made aware of the online auction of replica trophies of certain golf tournaments that I have won," Player said in a statement at the time. "These trophies have been put up for auction without my permission."

Family Goals. Nicolai Hojgaard tied his twin brother Rasmus's course record at Le Golf National with a 62 during the Olympic men's tournament. Nicolai had a chance to break the record with a birdie putt on the last hole but settled for par, moving into a tie for fourth place.
