I’m not sure about you guys, but damn I thought that was a great test of golf! The Open Championship definitely lived up to its history and produced an incredible test for the guys. I mean why do they need to roll the ball back when the guys were hitting 230-yard drives on day 3.

Unfortunately, that is it for the Major season however, we still have the Olympics and Presidents Cup to look forward to.

2028 Olympic Venue. Riviera Country Club will host the golf competition for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, as confirmed by the International Golf Federation and LA Olympic organizers. Celebrating its centennial in 2026, Riviera will also host the 2031 U.S. Open. Known for the Genesis Invitational, Riviera previously hosted major events like the 1995 PGA Championship.

Big Purse. The 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon boasts a record $17 million purse, with $3.1 million awarded to the winner. The top three finishers will earn over $1 million each. The increase in prize money reflects a $500,000 rise from the previous year and a significant jump from the 2016 purse.

Tiger’s Break. Tiger Woods plans a lengthy break after missing the cut at Royal Troon, confirming he won't play until December's Hero Challenge. He promises to return to Royal Portrush in 2025 but won't compete in the UK again. Woods, focusing on his business ventures and future role in golf, remains a significant figure in the golfing world.

Hole-In-One. Casey Jarvis made a hole-in-one at the 210-yard par-3 sixth hole during the Barracuda Championship, earning 5 points under the Modified Stableford scoring format. Jarvis ended Saturday with 16 points, bringing his total to 33 points. He qualified for the event via his DP World Tour ranking. This was his third career PGA TOUR start, finishing in T33. Jayden Schaper was the highest placed Saffa at T13.

Making History. Nick Dunlap made history by winning the Barracuda Championship, becoming the first golfer to win PGA Tour events as both a professional and an amateur in the same season. Using the Modified Stableford scoring system, Dunlap scored 19 points on Sunday for a total of 49, clinching his victory with an eagle on the 15th hole. This marks his first professional win after his amateur victory at the American Express in January.
