Wow! This weekend had some crazy golf. Lahiri missed a 2 footer to win $4.75 mil, this just makes me sick 🤢. Bob Mac makes an eagle on the 16th hole after getting a lucky break and goes on to win the Scottish Open, fairy tale stuff. Harry Hall chips-in in a 5 man play-off to win his first PGA Tour event, and Ernie Els winds his first Major on the Senior Tour. It was the perfect weekend to lead us into the Open Championship week.
That’s right, it is the final Major of the year, The OPEN Championship, arguably my favourite major. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds.
Some good news as Tommy Fleetwood’s caddie Ian Finnis is back on the bag, after recovering from open-heart surgery. Wild scenes.

Short News Snippets From Around The World

New USA Captain. Keegan Bradley has been selected as the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain at Bethpage Black, succeeding Zach Johnson. The 38-year-old, a major champion, has played in two Ryder Cups and one Presidents Cup. Despite his limited appearances, Bradley's selection follows Tiger Woods declining the role. Bradley aims to lead the U.S. to victory.
Heart Breaking. Dutch golfer Joost Luiten will not compete in the 2024 Olympics despite qualifying and winning a court case to join the Dutch team. The International Olympic Committee denied expanding the field to include him. Luiten, initially excluded by the Dutch Olympic Committee for not meeting national criteria, has expressed disappointment.
Tiger’s Explanation. Tiger Woods declined the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captaincy due to his new PGA Tour responsibilities and other commitments. “With my new responsibilities to the [PGA] Tour and time commitments involved I felt I would not be able to commit the time to Team USA and the players required as a captain,” Woods said. “That does not mean I wouldn’t want to captain a team in the future. If/when I feel it is the right time, I will put my hat in the ring for this committee to decide.”
Presidential Match. Former President Trump has challenged President Biden to another debate and an 18-hole golf match after Biden's poor performance in a recent debate. Trump suggested the golf match be held at his course, offering Biden a 20-stroke advantage and a $1 million charity donation if Biden wins. Biden's campaign dismissed the offer, emphasizing Biden's focus on leading the country. This may take a further setback with the assassination attempt on Trump on Friday.
Alabama vs Aces. The University of Alabama and Adidas have filed oppositions to LIV Golf's "4 Aces" trademark application. Alabama claims the "4 Aces" logo resembles its own "A" logo. The "4 Aces" team includes Dustin Johnson, Pat Perez, Patrick Reed, and Harold Varner III. See the image below.
