If this was not a Major week (pardon the pun) in the golf industry then I don’t know what is. I mean waking up on Friday morning and hearing Scottie Scheffler the world's number one golfer had been arrested was insane! I had to check Twitter 20 times to make sure it wasn’t a joke.
Congrats to Xander on winning his first Major the guy has been knocking on the door for ages now. Someone who has knocked on all the doors and banged them down is Nelly Korda, she just made it 6 wins out of 7! That is just incredible. Arguably the best golfer on the planet right now (mens and ladies)
Let’s go. 🏌️♀️⛳☕

Major Winner. Xander Schauffele won his first major title at the PGA Championship with a final round of -6, finishing at -21, one shot ahead of Bryson DeChambeau. Schauffele's clutch birdie on the last hole secured his first Major victory. He described his emotional win as a triumph for his team and family.
Inmate #00654436. Scottie Scheffler was arrested before his second round at the PGA Championship due to a "big misunderstanding" with Louisville Metro Police. Detained for over 70 minutes, he arrived back at Valhalla Golf Club just in time for his delayed tee time. Despite the chaotic situation, Scheffler shot a second-round 65, leaving him well-positioned for the tournament. However, it seems the situation caught up with him as he shot 73 in round 3. He said he started his warm-up in a jail cell, now that is a first. 😂😂 The latest is that his charges are going to be dropped.
Dropping Like Flies. Following Jimmy Dunne's recent resignation from the PGA Tour policy board, Mark Flaherty has also stepped down. Flaherty served for 4.5 years and cited the rewarding experience of blending his passion for golf with the PGA Tour's growth. Dunne's resignation highlighted a lack of progress in negotiations with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.
Divorce. Rory McIlroy filed for divorce from his wife, Erica Stoll. The couple, married for seven years, shares a young daughter. McIlroy was last seen with Erica in March, but she was absent at The Masters. It will be interesting to see how things play out. It didn’t seem to affect him as much as I thought this week, as he finished T12.
Getting Serious. LIV Golf is moving its New York office from Grand Central Station to a larger, 28,000-square-foot space in Hudson Yards, accommodating over 100 employees. This move reflects the league's growth, with nearly 200 full-time staff, and includes relocating the London office closer to the financial district.
Golf Series on Netflix. Will Ferrell is starring in his first scripted comedy golf series on Netflix. The 10-episode series features Ferrell as a fictional golf legend, co-created with Ramy Youssef and Josh Rabinowitz, who will also serve as showrunners. Ferrell is an executive producer alongside several others. I can’t wait for this.
