I have to say The Players Championship is an incredible event. The coverage was amazing, more shots and less crap. I guess the PGA Tour is listening to what the fans are saying. Congrats to Scottie for going back-to-back not only from last week but also becoming the first player ever to go back-to-back at The Players. Truly the world's number one right now. He has won $8.5 Million in the last two weeks 🤯🤯

There are some talks of a PIF/LIV/PGA meeting early this coming week. Let’s hope we all get some clarity on the situation.

Enough chit-chat, let’s dive in. 🏌️‍♀️⛳☕

Short News Snippets From Around The World

Let Them In. Billy Horschel pushed for LIV Golf players' inclusion at THE PLAYERS Championship, highlighting the absence of top talent. He suggests revising entry criteria to ensure participation by the world's best players. Horschel emphasizes merit over rankings and hopes for policy changes to enhance the event's competitiveness in the future.

Binge Watching Material. Owen Wilson gears up for a new role in an Apple TV+ comedy series as a washed-up golfer named Pryce Cahill. Written by Jason Keller, known for "Ford v Ferrari," the show explores Cahill's attempt at a comeback through mentoring a troubled young golf prodigy. Wilson's real-life passion for golf adds authenticity to the role. More details to follow.

Almost Time. PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan assures talks are advancing to finalize a deal with Saudi Arabia's PIF. Negotiations aim to unify golf under a shared vision despite unresolved issues. Monahan expresses confidence in a positive outcome for the sport and fans. Details remain undisclosed, including potential pathways for LIV players to return to the PGA Tour. As I have said before, I just want to see the best players in the world compete against each other.

If Jack Loves It, I Love It. Jack Nicklaus praised the PGA Tour's schedule, lauding signature tournaments and opportunities for new stars. He suggests improvements but advocates for elite players competing together, like the Major championships. However, few LIV players participate due to qualification criteria. This is not ideal at the moment, however, he thinks the PGA Tour will overcome this speedbump and be back at their best.

Back-To-Back. Scottie Scheffler makes history as the first back-to-back winner at the Players Championship. He overcame a 5-stroke deficit to win, with Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, and Brian Harman trailing. Scheffler secured victory when Clark's birdie putt on 18 lipped out. Even after playing through a neck injury Scottie was able to pull off a historic win. The question is, will he go on to win a Major this year, maybe even multiple?

The Best Irons For Mid Handicap Golfers 2024 ⛳

Image: PGA Tour

Are you in the market for a new set of irons? In this article, we cover the top irons for mid-handicap golfers for 2024. What we are looking for when it comes to irons especially for mid-handicap golfers is, looks, feel, forgiveness and distance.

We dive into some details and what you can expect from each iron. Even after reading this, I would still suggest going for a fitting. There are so many variables these days in terms of, loft, lie angle, shaft, head shape etc. It is very rare that you would be able to pick a set of clubs off the shelf and have them fitted perfectly for your swing. The smallest of details can make the biggest difference.

STATS
Food For Thought⛳🏌️‍♀️

You play BELOW AVERAGE half of the time you play golf.

There's a counterintuitive thing about golf psychology: The more you try to get something, the farther away you get from it.

Take playing better golf, for instance.

Seems pretty simple. "I'm going to try to play better, which will make me play better." Well, it depends on what you mean by "try". If by try you mean desperately want it or need it then you will only make it harder to get.

You create a scenario where the only acceptable outcome is good golf. So whenever you play below average (which again is exactly half of the time you play) you are reminded that you didn't play as well as you want.

So the next time you go play you double down on trying and forcing the round to go well. Which causes worse golf, and an even harsher reminder that you didn't play well. So over time, you descend into a slump because you are repeatedly reminding yourself you're not as good as you want to be.

We need a way to climb out of this rut, or prevent the spiral in the first place.
