The Netflix Cup Drive to Survive and Full Swing combine. The event will take place on November 14th at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas and will stream live on Netflix at 6 p.m. ET. Four PGA Tour players, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Thomas, will represent the PGA Tour in the matchplay tournament. The event has been dubbed the “Netflix Cup” and will take place in advance of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
No Major luck for LIV golfers. The Masters and Open Championship leaders, Fred Ridley and Martin Slumbers, won't make major changes to benefit LIV Golf members. This follows OWGR's refusal of LIV Golf World Ranking points and player comments on including LIV players. Discussions about guaranteed Open spots were dismissed, but both tournaments aim to create pathways for top players. No significant changes are expected for 2024, but they review criteria to represent the best players. The number of LIV players in these tournaments may decrease without World Ranking points.
New Augusta Member. Annika Sorenstam, a ten-time LPGA major champion, becomes the first female member of Augusta National Golf Club, a historic milestone. Chairman Fred Ridley welcomed her, highlighting her playing ability and the club's evolving inclusivity. Progress has been made, acknowledging the integral role of women in the club's culture.
TGL. Some big news came out of TGL this past week, which saw Jon Rahm pull out of the event. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's high-tech golf league is finally picking up some steam and is set to launch on January 9th. Rahm said, “While I still think it's a great opportunity, right now it would require a level of commitment that I can't offer.”. I am certainly looking forward to how the event plays out.
Eric VR. Eric van Rooyen’s emotional win was dedicated to his college roommate Jon Trasamar, who is dealing with terminal cancer. You could see how emotional it was for both Eric and his caddie. Eric said “I was calm because there’s bigger stuff in life than golf,”. His good friend Jon was definitely with them mentally through the final stretch, helping Eric go 8 under in the last 9 holes.

TIPS
How To Hit Your Irons Consistently
Hitting irons consistently is a skill that can dramatically lower your golf scores. Consistency means different things to different people. For professionals, it’s about hitting every green; for mid-handicap players, it’s about good contact and consistent shape; and for high-handicap players, it’s about avoiding duffing or thinning the ball.
Inconsistencies can arise from various factors like duffing, thinning, timing, strike on the face, connection with the turf, inconsistent swing speed, and unintended shot shapes.
One common fault is the angle of attack. With an iron, you want a negative angle of attack, which means hitting down on the ball. This creates distance and consistency in your irons.
Another common fault is an over-the-top swing. This refers to when your club and hands travel over the top of your swing plane. It causes your club path to travel from out to in, leading to an early release of the club head.
Addressing these issues involves understanding your swing and making necessary adjustments. Remember, practice makes perfect! But with these tips, you can speed up the process.
